Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming — Matthew 25:13
In these last days, our heavenly Father wants us to prepare for the coming of His Son, Jesus Christ. In Matthew 25:1-13, the Bible talks about what it will be like in that day when He returns. There were ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five virgins were wise and took oil in their vessels for their lamps. The rest were foolish and carried no oil for their lamps. When a cry went out, “The bridegroom is coming, go out to meet Him!”, the virgins trimmed their lamps. But the lamps of the foolish virgins were going out. So they asked the wise virgins for some of their oil. They responded, “No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell and buy for yourselves.” (Matthew 25:9)
The wise virgins went in with the bridegroom to the wedding and the door was shut. When the foolish virgins returned, they called out to the bridegroom saying, “Lord, Lord, open to us!” But He answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’” (Matthew 25:12 NKJV)
God the Father wants us to watch because His Son is coming soon. Watching involves spending time with Jesus, allowing Him to know you and you getting to know Him. It means to sit at His feet, listening to His Word. The Bible talks about a woman named Mary, who sat at the feet of Jesus listening to His Word. Jesus commended her saying, “Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:39) Mary constantly heard His voice and received His teachings and love for herself. She knew her Lord and her Lord knew her because she was always near Him.
Today, like a wise virgin, fill your vessel with oil. Get to know Jesus by listening and meditating on His Word. Allow Him to know you. Hear His voice and learn from Him. Like Mary, sit at His feet and listen to Him. Watch and enter His wedding banquet on the day He returns.
Watching involves spending time with Jesus, allowing Him to know you and you getting to know Him.
Meditate on…
Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming — Matthew 25:13 NKJV
