But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” — Matthew 14:30
When you are in trouble, what do you do? Who do you call for help? Where do you go? It was a windy and stormy evening, in the middle of the Sea of Galilee, when the disciples saw Jesus walking on water toward them. At first, they were afraid because they thought He was a ghost. But immediately Jesus removed the fear, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” (Matthew 14:27) Then Peter said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” (Matthew 14:28) So Jesus said, “Come.” Peter stepped out of the boat and walked on water toward Jesus. His eyes was on Jesus, trusting Him to bring him safely to Himself. But, for a moment, Peter took his eyes off the Lord and started looking at the boisterous wind. He became afraid and started to sink. He did not try to save himself by swimming. Instead, he cried out to the Lord, saying, “Lord, save me!”
His echoing cry reached Jesus “and immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him.” (Matthew 14) Peter did not look to himself nor to the other disciples in the boat for help. Instead, he looked to Jesus, his Lord. The psalmist said, “where does my help come from? my help comes from the Lord, Maker of heaven and earth.” (Psalm 121:1-2) The Lord saved Peter and the wind ceased… the trouble was no more.
When you are in trouble, cry out to Jesus similarly saying, “Lord, save me!”. Look to Him because He can and is willing to rescue you from the storm. When He liberates you from trouble, it will cease and the peace of God will reign in your life. Trust Him to rescue you. Have faith in God!
Jesus Christ is the savior of the world.
He cried out to the Lord, saying, “Lord, save me!”
Meditate on…
But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” — Matthew 14:30 NKJV
