Help me, O Lord my God! Oh, save me according to Your mercy, that they may know that this is Your hand, that You Lord, have done it! – Psalm 109:26-27
When trouble is near, we are tempted to save ourselves and sometimes become afraid and try to hide from the trouble. Sometimes, we despise the trouble itself. But, the Lord wants us to call on Him whenever we are in trouble. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13). God wants us to realize that our help comes from Him, Who is the Maker of Heaven and earth. He is not out to find fault with us nor condemn us. Instead, He longs to save us because He loves us… and nothing can separate us from His love. We are always on His mind and He cares for us. It is written, “What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?” (Psalm 8:4). No one likes troubles. But when we allow God to carry us on His shoulders especially in times of trouble, we will soar like eagles, we will run and not grow tired, we will walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31). When God saves us, people will see and know that He did it and not we ourselves.
God will come and save us!
As we face trials and troubles, let us remember that God loves us and is mindful of us. He is willing to help us. In Mark 1:40-41, a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, “If You are willing, You can make me clean. Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Though we do not deserve His help, He rescues us anyway.
This is the grace of God and it is all that we need, especially in times of trouble. When a thorn in the flesh was given to the Apostle Paul, he pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from him. But the Lord said to him, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
As we endure trials and troubles, let us remember that He is mindful of us and that His grace is all we need. Let us learn to trust Him and wait for His deliverance… for He will deliver us!
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:17-18
