But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” — Matthew 19:14
While a man was driving down a highway, he told to his nephew, a young child, “When I drive on the highway, my car extends its small wings, lifts off the road and flies!” For years the child believed his uncle. But as he grew older, he realized that his uncle did not tell him the truth.
Have you ever noticed how easily young children believe and trust adults, especially their parents. Their hearts are not hard and unbelieving, but soft and believing — filled with faith. They don’t expect adults to hurt them. Instead, they rely on adults to feed, shelter, protect and care for them — to love them. In Matthew 19:14, Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” When a young child or person with childlike faith looks to Jesus, he or she becomes a candidate for the kingdom of heaven. It is the place where love, joy and peace in the Holy Ghost are present. And God the Father wants everyone to be in that place.
God the Father sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to open the way for us to enter His kingdom.
Jesus is the good shepherd who gave His life for the sheep so that they can live in the kingdom of heaven. We are the sheep of His pasture and He cares for us. Jesus wants us to be like little children, trusting Him to feed, shelter, protect, care and love us. He wants our hearts to be filled with faith — trusting Him and believing His Word. His Word is the truth and not a lie. Jesus will never lie to you because He is not a man that He should lie. He is God’s only begotten Son, Who died for you, so that you will have eternal life, and have life more abundantly.
Today, ask Jesus to help you to trust Him and believe His Word. Ask Him to fill your heart with childlike faith. Expect Him to provide for you. Trust His Word and expect good from Him today.
