Delight Yourself in God’s Word

But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. – Psalm 1:2.

God want us to delight in His Word. When we delight in something, we tend to enjoy it and look forward to spending time with it. When we delight in God’s Word, we will embrace it, hold on to it, protect and keep it in our hearts. We will talk about it to ourselves and to others. We will think about it day and night. We will dream of it and know it… actually, we will know Jesus because He is the Word of God. It is written, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14).

God wants us to know His Son, His living Word. He wants us to meditate on His Word so that He can have first place in our hearts and minds. The Father wants us to delight in His Word – it is only when Jesus comes into our hearts can we delight in His Word. The more we meditate on the Word of God, the more our delight in Him will increase.

  • Meditate on the Word of God by muttering it to yourself;
  • Say it to yourself repeatedly.
  • Talk to God about His Word… have a conversation with Him about His Word.
  • Trust His Word.

Be like Mary, who sat at the feet of Jesus, listening to Him. Jesus said, “But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:42). Jesus will not allow your meditation of Him to be taken away from you either. He will protect you.

Today, spend time listening and meditating on Him. Believe that Jesus, the Word of God, is alive and can save your soul.

Shema! Shema!

  • Delight in the Word of God.
  • Meditate on the Word of God.
  • Accept the Word of God which is able to save your soul.

Prayer

Father in Heaven, thank you for sending Your Son, Jesus Christ, to die for me. Thank you for sending your Word to me. Lord Jesus, you said that a blessed man delights and meditates in Your Word.
