Pray for kings and others in authority

Pray in this way for kings and all others who are in authority over us, or are in places of high responsibility, so that we can live in peace and quietness, spending our time in godly living and thinking much about the Lord – 1 Timothy 2:2

Our Heavenly Father gave us instructions to pray for others. In 1 Timothy 2:1, He said, “Here are my directions: Pray much for others; plead for God’s mercy upon them; give thanks for all he is going to do for them.” God loves all men, including those that do evil. He sends rain on the just and the unjust (Matthew 5:45) and there is nothing that can separate us from the love of God (Romans 8:39). So, when we pray to Him for others, we are inquiring of Him to do something good and lovely in their lives.

Ask Him to be merciful toward them and bless them despite their shortcomings. Do not look at their faults. Instead, look at God doing something beautiful in their lives. There is no one that is perfect because all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Thank God that He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ to love and die for us (to save us), so that we will be accepted in the beloved. Pray that others will accept Jesus as their Savior and Lord… and God will forgive them of their sins. Give thanks to our Heavenly Father for all He is going to do for them. See Him blessing and empowering them with life and wisdom. See them happy and filled with the joy of the Lord.

Ask and it will be given to you! (Matthew 7:7)

Our Heavenly Father also asked us to pray in this way for kings and all those who are in authority over us. This includes pastors, teachers, presidents, mayors, governors, prime ministers, supervisors, police officers, etc. When we pray for them, our God promised that we will live in peace and quietness, spending our time in godly living and thinking much about the Lord (1 Timothy 2:2).

Meditate on…
